Belz & Case Announces New Staff – Elyse Monroy - Joining January 1, 2023
Elyse Monroy is a 5th Generation Nevadan from Reno. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2012 with a BA in Communications and a minor in Political Science. Elyse began her career in Public Service as a District Representative for Congressman Mark Amodei, and then as the Office Manager for the Nevada Association of Counties. This experience instilled in her the importance of working with local partners to develop policy and implement programs.
From 2015 to 2018, Elyse served as Health and Human Services Policy Analyst for Governor Brian Sandoval. She was the Governor Sandoval’s point person for the development of the state’s first Opioid Strategic Plan and the first Statewide Opioid Prevention Summit. Elyse went on to draft and shepherd the unanimous passage of AB 474 in 2017. She worked on various opioids grants and projects in Nevada through 2021. Currently, Elyse serves as the Program Manager for the Overdose Data to Action Program and will continue that work through the end of 2022 to ensure a smooth transition to the next program manager before joining the Belz & Case staff in 2023.
Elyse is currently taking classes towards her Masters in Public Health at the University of Nevada, Reno and hopes to complete her degree in 2024. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Community Food Pantry in Sparks. She is a hobby photographer and amateur ornithologist. In 2017, Elyse visited all of Nevada’s amazing state parks - Echo Canyon and Cathedral Gorge were her favorites. She has two cats, whom she adores, and is marrying Michael Marsala at the end of the month. Congratulations, Elyse!
